When James and I went on our honeymoon to Spain, I decided I didn’t want to take any serious stitching with me. I wanted something that I could stitch easily in hand and not have to think about a ton while I worked on it.
I impulsively bought this beautiful Thorn Alexander clutch my last day in the office before I went on vacation, and I’m so glad that I did!

We had the best time on our trip! Drinking wine and eating amazing food, wandering the streets of Barcelona and Madrid and exploring! I loved having a little to work on while we were flying or chilling out at the hotel room whenever I had a spare minute.
I worked almost the entire piece in basketweave using Vineyard Silk and Fyre Werks for the gold. It was the perfect piece to travel with!
When I got back home, I ended up beading the center medallions, which I think really helped turn the canvas into something special.

Needlepoint.Com’s expert head of finishing Amy helped me pick out a beautiful turquoise silk to line the bag with. It really makes the blue in the design pop and is such a beautiful but subtle detail. We settled on a navy blue velvet to tone down the pink, and to help hide dirt from getting on it! Our finisher added a beautiful gold zipper as well.

I’ve already had SO many compliments on it the handful of times I’ve used it recently. I can hardly wait to take my Thorn Alexander clutch when we go out to dinner in our new home in Colorado Springs next week!
