Meet Tess Kvale the artist behind the needlepoint canvas line Pewter and Pine. I had the pleasure of meeting Tess at the Dallas Market this past year. I just finished stitching her “To the Mountains” ornament and am looking forward to catching up with her again in person in a few weeks at the trade show in Orlando!
Meet Diane- The artist behind Pepperberry Designs
Meet Diane! The artist behind Pepperberry Designs. You all should know from previous posts that I am a big fan! I’ve stitched several of her designs including this darling First Christmas as a Pair Ornament.
We love Diane’s designs so much that we have turned two of her best selling designs- the Peeking Reindeer and Ho^3– into online classes complete with canvas, thread pack, stitch guide and access to videos that never expires. You can see them here on Stitch Style first!
Melissa Shirley last chance for 20% off!
If you’ve been reading along for a few years, you will know how much I LOVE Melissa Shirley. All of her canvases are so darling. Not only is she an incredibly talented designer, she is just as kind a person as she could be. Back in the day, when Stitch Style was just starting out, I wrote stitch guides for several of her pieces. Lots of birds with hats, and a beautiful angel tree topper that is one of my favorite pieces I have ever stitched. She really helped me get my business started. I can’t thank her enough for that!
Colorado Living
When James initially told me we were moving to Colorado Springs next I was excited- but really had no idea how much I would love the mountains until we were here. After living (literally) in the middle of nowhere in Missouri, we feel spoiled to be surrounded by so many amazing things to do. Between the Garden of the Gods, the Broadmoor, the zoo, tons of amazing restaurants and lots and lots of hiking, we are never bored. We may never want to leave Colorado!
Christmas in London Ornaments
If you’ve been reading along for a while you may know that growing up my family and I were lucky enough to live overseas in London for seven years. I was eight years old when we moved and I remember it feeling like such a great adventure. Because we didn’t know how long we would be over there for exactly, my parents took every opportunity to make sure we saw the sights. We went to British schools and spent our weekends exploring the city.
The best way to learn new stitches
I know it probably sounds cliché, but the best way to learn new stitches is just to try them out. When I was beginning to play around with decorative stitches, I would try a bunch out in the selvage around the canvas before jumping in and stitching right on the design itself.
