I’ve been on pins and needles waiting for this darling geometric clutch to come back from the finisher, and I’m so excited it’s finally here! It’s going to be the perfect little clutch bag for dinners out this summer. After I stitched it, we decided to kit a limited number and turn it into an online class.

I just love the fabric colors Amy, who is the head of finishing at Needlepoint.Com, picked out to go with the stitching. She picked a turquoise silk for the inside that I think is really fun. I love that she asked them to add a credit card pocket on the inside. I definitely wish I had done that on my other clutch. The back is finished with a dark purple velvet, which will be great for hiding any wear and tear that it gets.

I designed the geometric clutch as a sort of “sampler” to learn new stitches. The large areas painted on the canvas are the perfect place to learn stitches because there is limited compensating needed to fill the spaces. You also don’t have to worry about negotiating any kind of shading, which makes it even easier. See how the I’ve reversed some of the stitches depending on the direction that the diagonal stripe is angled? It’s important to pay attention to direction when stitching, so that your stitches flow with the design, rather than competing with the shape of an area of canvas is painted.
I’ll be teaching the clutch the next time I’m in Raleigh. We have two sessions scheduled- one on Wednesday July 17th and the other on Saturday July 20th. Both classes will go from 10-12. Hurry and sign up! I’d love to have you join me. Call the store at 919-828-5538 to sign up.
If you don’t live locally, but would like to order the kit, you can do so online here. They are in stock and ship today. Have fun and Happy Stitching!
