When James initially told me we were moving to Colorado Springs next I was excited- but really had no idea how much I would love the mountains until we were here. After living (literally) in the middle of nowhere in Missouri, we feel spoiled to be surrounded by so many amazing things to do. Between the Garden of the Gods, the Broadmoor, the zoo, tons of amazing restaurants and lots and lots of hiking, we are never bored. We may never want to leave Colorado!
While we were at Dallas Market last September, I picked up this darling ornament from Pewter and Pine. I love that I finally had the opportunity to meet Tess in person! Her designs are so fresh and fun. A lot of them are inspired by the southwest. I literally started stitching this on the plane ride home.
I always love to commemorate special places we have lived and visited with needlepoint projects. I’ve stitched a lot of Kirk and Bradley Travel Rounds for that reason. On this canvas, I ended up personalizing the design by beading the letters on top. It reads “Fort Carson”- James’ new duty station. The mountains on the ornament will always remind me of the view of Pike’s Peak from our living room.
The mountain is stitched in a combination of Alternating Continental Stitch and Double Hungarian Stitch. It was such a quick little project.
