I have been stitching away at this Kirk and Bradley Nativity just about as fast as I can to get it ready for next year’s Raleigh Retreat! Since I last posted, so much has been done, so I thought I’d share a nativity stitching update with you all! I love when I get to the point with a canvas that I can finally see the finished project coming together.
The biggest thing I’ve gotten done was to get a background stitch in. I was hoping to come up with something that resembles a starry night sky
I’ve also almost completed the wise men and finished Baby Jesus. I just love the way he came out swaddled in ribbons!
The palm trees are almost done- my favorite part is the coconuts up in the tree! This was a really fun effect to add. And I loved coming up with some fun furry textures for the animals.
I hope that you all will be able to join me in Raleigh, NC on Friday March 16th for the class! Now that I’m closer to being finished with the canvas, the class has been priced out at $525. A $100 deposit (applied to the total) will hold your spot! This includes all of the materials you need, class instruction and lunch at the Carolina Country Club. It’s hard to believe that the class is already over half way full- so if you’re interested don’t hesitate to give us a call. More information can be found here on the website.
If you can’t join us, call and preorder your kit. There will only be a limited quantity available, so don’t wait.
Hey everyone. Happy Friday! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend planned with friends and family. I wanted to share a 2018 Needlepoint.Com Retreat Sneak Peek with you all! You may remember how much fun we had from the pictures on my blog I posted last year. I’ve been working on this nativity for the last few weeks, and am truly having the best time. I thought I’d share my progress with you all! Isn’t it gorgeous? The colors are so fun and the design is unlike anything I’ve ever stitched before.
I will be teaching this class at Needlepoint.Com’s 2018 Raleigh A La Carte Retreat from March 16th-18th, 2018. I would love to have you join me. We are still working on specifics on pricing as the canvas is not 100% done, but feel free to call the shop for more information or to sign up. A $100 deposit will hold your spot, and the classes are filling up quickly!
I really love that Vernon made the entire nativity scene one piece. No reason to pay to finish eight different characters, when you can just stitch one piece instead. As you can tell from my pictures, there are going to be a ton of fun techniques covered in class!
Hope you all have a wonderful long weekend!
PS. Only a few more days to shop the kit sale before it’s all over for this year!
Hey everyone! Hope you all are having a great week! I wanted to let you know, Staffordshire Dog Kits are back in stock! We sold out of the pink and green and the blue and white so quickly when our first shipment came in, that we had to ask Jessica to ship us some more!
I will be teaching a class on these little guys next Wednesday (June 31) from 10-11:30 at Needlepoint.Com. Staffordshire Dog class will be held at our retail shop in Raleigh, NC. It is $95. I would love to see you all there!
I have such an exciting announcement to share with you all today! The Staffordshire Dog Ornaments are here!
We received such an overwhelming response when my Staffordshire Dog Ornament came back from the finisher that, I got to work collaborating with Jessica of Lycette Designs to bring them to you as an online class kit. Needlepoint.Com now has a very limited stock of mini Staffordshire Dogs in stock in four different color ways: Blue and White, Pink and Green, Red and Green and Blue and Tan. I know you all are going to love them!
The kits are available for $95, which includes online class login, printed stitch guide, threads, bell and beads (such a fun detail!) If you don’t want to do the decorative stitches, all of the threads in the kit can be used to basketweave your project.
They can be found online for purchase here. We have a very limited number in stock, so don’t wait to place your order. I just sold two in the shop… They’re flying out of here!
Day two of the retreat has come and gone! We had such a fabulous time this morning at the Carolina Country Club stitching the day away.
Today I taught my Kirk & Bradley Mews Houses. You all may remember this past January when I taught them at the national trade show to several shop owners. It was a lot of fun to revisit this piece for a second time, with a brand new group of stitchers. I had such a lovely (and hard working!!) group in my class. We sampled many ribbon techniques, had some fun beading and covered lots and lots of different decorative stitches. It was a very full day to say the least!
While we worked on Mews Houses in one ballroom, Nancy was next door teaching a full class of Elizabeth Bradley stitchers how to join their individual canvases into rugs. That class is so much more than just proper joining technique, but Nancy really works with you on composition and layout to best construct a beautiful finished project. For instance- what border do you want to add to your piece? How do all of your background colors work together? Do you want a floor rug or a runner? What thread color do you want to use to join all of your panels together? I just love watching them play around with different designs. It’s fascinating to see how many different options there really are. No two rugs EVER look exactly alike!
Tomorrow we head back over to the club so that I can teach my ribbonwork rectangle. I know there are a few stitchers coming back tomorrow who took the class with me this morning, but some will be brand new. That’s the best thing about our retreats- you can completely customize your weekend. Take as many or as few different classes as you want! Be sure to save the date for our next retreat- March 16, 17 and 18 of 2018! We already have three pieces in the works for our next stitching extravaganza- call the shop for more information.
For more Stitch Style fun- and to keep up to date with our class schedule- be sure to subscribe by email in the box on the right and follow along on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Bloglovin’ and Pinterest !
After months of prep time, today we are kicking off our Raleigh A La Carte Retreat! We are so excited to welcome so many stitchers from all over the country (and beyond!) for our big annual event.
I just love how many different class offerings we have put together for this one weekend… I’m convinced anyone could find a class to meet their stitching needs!
Today in the shop national teacher Joan Lohr joined us to teach two technique classes- one on beading and one on backgrounds. Tomorrow she will be teaching a Burnett & Bradley Birdhouse class. I know I’ve said this a thousand times, but if you’ve never taken a class with Joan, you are seriously missing out. She is just about the most patient teacher under the sun. It doesn’t matter your skill level- Joan has something to offer everyone.
We also had our fabulous store owner Nancy teach a Kirk & Bradley double sided father christmas over at the Carolina Country Club. Nancy is just about the most meticulous stitcher I know- and her piece certainly did not disappoint all of the enthusiastic stitchers in her class! While we do have plenty of space at the store, we decided to offer some of our larger classes there this year, to accommodate as many people as comfortably as possible. This will be where I teach my Mews House class tomorrow morning and my ribbonwork class on Sunday. It should be two very fun days!
Both tonight and tomorrow we host a big welcome event for all of our stitchers. This is one of the best things about having our retreat in Raleigh- the whole store is right here! In addition to having many new arrivals in stock from market, lots of wine and cheese, and four trunk shows to shop, we also had lots of fun prizes and giveaways! Today we gave away a $50 gift card, a $100 gift card, a travel round of your choice, an Elizabeth Bradley mini and 16″ kit of your choice and our brand new online class a Turkey Work Workshop. Our shop manager Melissa even coordinated her outfit with a new EB kit being released at the event – the Chelsea Poppy!
I’ll definitely be sending out lots more photos tomorrow to keep those of you who couldn’t join us updated. You can always order a kit for one of the classes we taught this weekend if you couldn’t join us. In the mean time, I’ve got to get some sleep… I’ve got a big weekend ahead of me still!
