We got a puppy!

Happy Weekend everyone!

Exciting news to share today… we got a puppy! Meet Charlie: our six week old Lab/Golden Retriever mix. Such a sweetie. He came home to us this week and we are already so in love with him!

We got a puppy!

For those of you who are curious, he’s a rescue pup from Peak Lab Rescue in Apex, NC. We cannot say enough wonderful things about this organization. All dogs are placed in foster homes until they find their forever home. Charlie and his four siblings were being fostered on a horse farm in Southern Pines with their mom, where they got lots of fresh air, personal attention, and had boundless room to play with each other!

Charlie is named for the Charles River in Boston. It’s right on the Boston University Campus, where I went to school. James also rowed there with the West Point Crew Team a number of times. We have a lot of happy memories together in Boston- so it seemed like the perfect fit! “Charlie” is also the letter “C” in the Army Phonetic Alphabet- so the name has lots of appropriate ties to our life!

Puppy

He’s really been a surprisingly easy puppy to train so far- he almost slept through the night last night, and is already learning his name. He’s definitely a true lab at heart, because we can hardly keep him away from the water! We put his water dish down, and he drinks for a minute… but then before you can blink an eye, he’s got his front paws in the dish, then his back paws are wet too… and then the whole thing is flipped over on our kitchen floor, and he’s rolling around in the water! (Obviously a habit we’re going to want to break… but it’s the funniest thing to see!)

Puppy

We can hardly wait for all the walks, belly rubs and games of fetch in our future! Thanks for rescuing us, Charlie- we love you!

K&B Christmas Snowcone

Seriously, we can’t get enough of these Kirk and Bradley Christmas Snowcones here at Needlepoint.Com. Of course, the original six that were released a few years back were cute, but I love the new six that were released by K & B this past January at Market!

Christmas Snowcone
I just finished stitching this K&B Christmas Snowcone with the Tree on his hat, and I think he turned out wonderfully. It’s really our finisher here at Needlepoint.Com that makes them come to life, with the bows and pompoms on his head, and the pleating that is done with the fabric on the side. I think it pulls the whole piece together!

Here are the other 5 new snowcones:

I love how they all have slightly different expressions! Such a cute little series!

If you are interested in ordering any of them online, they can be found here! They’re all 20% off right now with the Kirk and Bradley Trunk Show at Needlepoint.Com!

Finishing Fun to kick of the week!

Happy Monday, everyone! I wanted to share some finishing fun with you all to kick off the new week. This sweet Kathy Schenkel “Santa” ornament that just came back from the finisher. At just 2 x4, this was a super quick stitch, and an easy way to use up some threads from the stash!

Finishing Fun

I Satin Stitched the letters in Flair so that they would pop off the canvas. The background is done in Skip Tent with Petite Silk Lame Braid. The star is beaded, as are the red dots on the canvas. My favorite part though is the little Santa hat on the letter “S”. It was stitched in Diagonal Mosaic using Petite Very Velvet and then I attached a cute little jingle bell on the end of it!

Kathy Schenkel has lots of different canvases with words like these.
