Good morning everyone and Happy New Year!
I hope that all of you had a restful and relaxing holiday season.
I wanted to share my two Associated Talents Candy Stripe Ornaments with you all. I initially stitched the ornament with the peppermint candies in wrappers, and after finishing the first one, I decided to make it a pair! The bright colors and open spaces gave me plenty of room for lots of different stitches.
The candies on both the ornaments are stitched as “spiders” using Kreinik #8 Braid 5505 (my favorite red!). Stitch the spider all in red, and then add the white stripes over the top afterwards using Kreinik #8 Braid 5760. This stitch was a great choice because the candies became almost three dimensional and popped right off the canvas! Click here to see a great diagram on how to do a spider stitch. To get the right texture for the cellophane wrappers, I used Rainbow Gallery white Flair and long stitches.
The rest of the two designs are stitched in a combination of Cross Stitches, Square Rhodes, Small Bargello Patterns, Satin Stitch, Fern Stitch, and Smyrna Crosses. Little white lined beads made the perfect addition for the polka dots on the red stripe. As always I was thrilled by how Needlepoint.com finished them with gold ribbon gussets and swirly hooks. I know these Candy Stripe Ornaments will have a home on my tree for many years to come!
It’s beautiful!
